Gerry Keane RIP - Proud of Drumshanbo

Following the tragic news of Gerry Keane earlier this week Pride In Drumshanbo would like to express and offer their sincere condolences to his wife Jessica, family and many freinds. Gerry played an important role within Drumshanbo community. His efforts went way beyond what was asked of him by his employers when it came to the appearance and upkeep of the town, his love, work and enthusiasm that would help enhance his home town is without doubt a major contributory factor of why the town is a very nice place of which we all enjoy. We will never forget Gerry’s passion, attention to detail, tidiness and his Pride in Drumshanbo. Gerry will be sorely missed.

Alzheimer’s fundraising concert in Leitrim

We all wish to do our best for our loved ones who are affected by the growing problem of Alzheimer’s. We all know of people who suffer with this terrible illness and the problems it poses for families. We are lucky to have a wonderful facility in St Patrick’s Hospital but as funding is getting tighter each year all donations and assistance they receive is gratefully received and goes to ensure the best care for the patients. Eleanor Shanley, together with Charlie McGettigan and local artists have kindly offered to perform a special fundraising night in the new St. Joseph’s Resource Centre, beside the church in Leitrim Village, on Sunday, 24th February at 8pm. Admission is €15 and tickets are on sale in the Post Office, Leitrim Village, Mulvey’s Carrick-on-Shannon and Beirne’s, Knockvicar PO. All proceeds from this event will go towards the Alzheimer Unit in St. Patrick’s Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon. All are welcome for what promises to be a wonderful night’s entertainment in Leitrim Village.
