On Friday the 3rd of May at 2pm the launch of a new artistic platform called The Space will be held in Boyle Library. Curlew Walkers Club

There will be a walk on Saturday, May 11th meeting on the Crescent at 9am. This will be a Climb/Grade A at Mweelrea with your leader being Daniel Dill on 087 7583 902. There is also a walk on Sunday May 12th meeting on the Crescent at 11am this will be a Climb Grade B with your leader being Eugene Griffin on 086 2560 400. Charity Duathlon

The Boyle Charity Duathlon takes place on Sunday May 6th in Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle. The race is a sprint distance 5k run 20k cycle 2.5k run and follows the same route as previous years. No race licence required and entry cost €25. For more information and to register please log onto

Drama in King House

The hugely popular and well-known Leitrim playwright, Seamus O’Rourke brings ‘The Sand Park’ to the King House stage on Thursday May 9th. A moving and funny account of one man’s emotional journey after the loss of his son and wife, starring Seamus himself in the lead role - you won’t want to miss it!

Stall holders wanted

Roscommon County Council is putting out a call for local food and beverage providers who may be interested in operating stalls at The Return of the Rossies Festival, Roscommon’s Flagship Gathering Event on May 25th and 26th at Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle We are looking to set up a select number of food and beverage concessionstands to provide tea/coffee, snack food, hot food, refreshments and bar facilities. Poetry Competition 2013

Boyle Arts Festival is delighted to announce the Boyle Arts Festival Poetry Competition for 2013. Prizes: €500 first prize plus 4 x €50 highly commended. Closing Date June 15th. Men’s Shed

A Men’s Shed is a place where men of all ages, backgrounds and situations can come together to share information, share skills, or just talk together, in a safe, friendly environment meeting every Tuesday at 4pm. The Boyle Shed are currently looking for a premises in Boyle town which would be a base to enable them to work on skills such as wood turning, computers, music, mechanics and other skills. The Boyle Men’s Shed Group is currently working on a new project which will be a family attraction in Boyle. Boyle’s very own ‘Mini World’.

Boyle Golf Club

On Sunday, April 21st the fourball better ball was won by Brendan Gaffney and Jim Mooney (43pts), 2nd Terry Canning and Tom Rochford (42pts), 3rd Ross Andrew and Tom Kearney (42pts). Friday April 19th saw the Scramble won by Patrick Egan, Aisling Gaughran and Gary Carty, 2nd Adrian King, Joyce Boles and John McGuin, 3rd Vincent Egan, Mary Lombard and Jonathan Egan. Thanks to all who took part in the competitions. The winner of the Open 18 hole on Wednesday April 10th was James Shivnan with 39pts.The Ladies prize won by Tish Perry. The next club draw will take place on Sunday May 12th. If members wish to join please send standing order or cash payment to Michael Gilmartin, Carrickmore, Boyle. Thank you to all who have entered so far and good luck in the draw .Thanks to all who took part in the canvass last Saturday in Supervalu and Londis. The event helped to raise the profile of the club and also attracted a number of new members. Members are asked to continue canvassing for new members. The Ladies and Gents beginners lessons commence on Tuesday May 7th at 7.00pm Junior Lessons commence on Saturday May 11th from 11am until/1pm.The club extend sympathy to Brendan and Mary McDermott on the passing of James McDermott, Knockvicar. Boyle Singers Circle

Traditional unaccompanied singing, in English and Irish meet on the third Saturday of every month, in Dodd’s Crescent Bar, Boyle. All singers and listeners welcome.
