4 Lock Cycling Club
A new leisure cycling club in the area has been set up. It is called the 4 Locks Cycling Club and is based on the Ballinamore Credit Union area. Of course anyone
interested from outside these areas is welcome to join. Joining is a two step process. It is €15 to join the 4 Locks Cycling Club. A further €15 must be paid to Cycling Ireland (www.cycling Ireland.ie) . Membership of Cycling Ireland covers you for insurance. The officers are Des Quinn (Chairman), Gabrielle Flynn (Secretary) and Tony McGrath (Treasurer). The aforementioned can be contacted if you wish to join the club. Gabrielle can be contacted at the library in Ballinamore. The club has also set up a FaceBook page.
Spins take place on a Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and participants meet at the Courthouse, Ballinamore. In the summer months there will also be an evening spin. No one doubts the benefits of cycling. It is a good low joint impact sport, it will help you sleep better, you will look younger, it is good for your brain, it builds up your
immune system, it helps you to live longer, it cuts your risk of heart disease, it helps you lose weight, get fit, burn more fat, develop a positive addiction, get a legal high, make friends, be happy and stay healthy. So get on your bike and join the 4 Locks Cycling Club!
Ballinamore Bridge Club

Ballinamore Women’s Group
Monthly meeting of Ballinamore Women’s Group takes place on Wednesday, 6th March at 8pm in Trathnona. A guest speaker will attend speaking on health matters. Yearly subscription is now due €10. All members are asked to attend.
The second semi-final in the Francis McGirl Memorial Cup Competition was played last Friday night in Terry Shortt’s, as in the first semi-final two weeks ago a great
crowd turned up to see a very exciting match between Jackie’s and McGirl’s. It was a very close game all the way through McGirl’s just winning it in the end on a scoreline of (5) games to (4). Thanks to everyone for supporting our raffle, thanks to Terry and staff for refreshments to all who marked the games. The final is next Friday night between McGirl’s and Shortt’s (A) a repeat of last year’s final, the venue is Ossie’s starting time 10.30pm.
Adult Education Free Event
As part of Adult Learner’s Festival Week, Cavan VEC are hosting a free Adult Education & training opportunities event in the Further Education and Training Campus (formerly Dun Ui Neil barracks) Cavan on Thursday, 28th February between 11am and 3pm. If you are thinking of going back to education and training come along to this day of inspiration, motivation, advice and support. Guest speakers on the day are career experts Sean Gallagher and MarieadFleming. All are open to attend this FREE event.

Ballinamore Easter Spraoi
Ballinamore Easter Spraoi in association with Waterways Ireland will be held this year during Easter weekend from 30th of March until 1st of April. Events and activities for all ages including Soap Box Rally, Water Sports and Canoe Skills and a Vintage and Heritage Street Display. Drama Festival commences next Friday 1st March and runs until Sunday 10th March. Community School Enrolment/Open Day
Ballinamore Community School Enrolment and Open Day will take place in the Vocational School, Ballinamore on Saturday 2nd March: 2pm to 4pm. Parents wishing to enrol students are asked to bring the students PPS Number and a copy of their birth certificate.
It is hoped over the coming weeks to recruit and train new Ministers of the Eucharistic to serve in the Parish. If you feel you would be prepared to take on this role or wish to find out more please contact Fr. Heerey or any member of the Parish Council. This is open to anyone over the age of 18 years.

The Leitrim Primary Schools Sports Hall semi final takes place in the Sports Hall on Friday next, March 1st, at 10 00 a.m. with South Leitrim Schools taking part. The County Final is at the same venue on Thursday March 7th. The Connacht Under Age Indoor Championships take place in the new Athlone IT International Arena on Sunday next.

Fantastic results were recorded at the final night of Ballinamore Sean O’ Heslin’s Operation Transformation. The participants lost an average of 9 pounds over the
six weeks with the winner loosing over a stone. We also had some amazing results in our fitness assessment and lost up to 6 inches . Many of the participants have
experience the benefits of a fit and healthy lifestyle and will continue fitness classes with Michelle Fanning of Assorted Fitness every Wednesday at 7.30pm for ladies
and 8.30pm for men and we are looking for more participants to join in our healthy living journey. The popular Bootcamp will also run for an additional two weeks on
Saturday the 2nd and 9th of March at 10am in the sports complex and depending on numbers it may continue.
RehabCare Walking Group
Walking group for lent every Tuesday and Thursday at 11am. The route we will take will be along the golf links road and we will be providing tea/coffee on our return to the centre. Please meet at the RehabCare resource centre here in Ballinamore at 10.50am. All welcome.

The Karate Club in Ballinamore is one of three clubs teaching Matsubayshi Rhy in Co. Leitrim, teaching children from as young as five through to Seniors under the instruction of Sensi Michael O’Keefe and will be taking on beginners from now until the end of March 2013. Congratulations to Scott Thomas, one of his Junior students from Ballinamore who was awarded a medal for his achivements and dedication at the Student of the Year Awards last week. Ballinamore Sports Hall in demand
Ballinamore Sports Hall will stage two Leitrim Primary Schools Sports Hall Athletics contests on Friday next and on Thursday week when the Final takes place. With the good weather and longer daylight in the next number of weeks some winter night users will be moving outside and any group interested in getting a night slot over the coming weeks should take the opportunity to book without delay. The building of the new adjacent Community Hall/Scout Den is well advanced and it is hoped to have it completed in the next few weeks.
