Kinlough celebrates the Gathering

Kinlough celebrates the Gathering

On August weekend (2nd to the 5th), the people of Kinlough, along with Melvin Gaels GAA Club, invite friends and relatives, from home and abroad, to come to the village and join in a weekend of Entertainment and Craic. As well as the “McGowan Clan Gathering” there will be something for everyone. The festivities begin on Friday evening, August 2nd with an Ecumenical Mass and Service in St Aidan’s Church at 7pm followed by the Official Opening by Nora Casey of RTE in the Community Centre at 8pm. There will be a Photo Exhibition and ‘History of Kinlough’ Book Launch by Thomas Feeley. Refreshments will be served.

On Saturday, the 3rd, there will be an Old Fair Day in the village and a Variety Concert in the Community Centre. On Sunday, the 4th, there will be a Mountain walk and Picnic. Later there will be a Barbecue and Open Air live music by Stonefree. More volunteers are needed to come along and help make the Gathering Weekend a big success for the Community and the many visitors to the Village.

Fundraising cookery demo and wine dine night at Source Cookery School Sligo on Thurs 2nd May at 8pm, Tickets €30 from Source or Mary on 087 7708865. For this you get a cookery demo, starter, main course, dessert and enjoy with a glass of wine. Everyone gets a goodie bag with discount vouchers on the night – please support.

Charity Handbag Event

North West Simon Community are running a Charity Handbag Event on Sat 4th May from 10 to 3 at Quayside Shopping Centre, Sligo. The charity are looking for people to donate a hand bag and when you do you are entered into a draw for a designer Guess bag worth €190 sponsored by Allure in the Quayside Shopping Centre. Bags can be left into Zodi, Monsoon, Oasis, Lydia Murray, Gerard Fashions, Home décor, Inspire & Fasmatastic all in the Quayside Shopping Centre for collection by North West Simon. Your support with these two fundraisers would be much appreciated.

Melvin Gaels Lotto

The numbers drawn in the Melvin Gaels Lotto Draw held in the Village Inn, Kinlough on Sunday night were 1,4,16 and 20. There was no Jackpot winner. Other winners were €40 Mary Connolly, Aghanlish, Kinlough, €20 each John James Boyle, Ardfarna, Bundoran, Cubby Lipsett, Park, Kinlough and Austin McGurran, Gubacreeney, Kinlough. Next draw on Sunday, May 5th in Gilbride’s, Rossinver, Jackpot €1,250.

Tidy Towns Clean-up Kinlough

Come and help with the clean-up of the village which has been organised for Wednesday 24th April at 7.30. Meet at St Aidan’s Church gates.

Pilgrimage to Lourdes

The annual Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June led by Bishop Leo O’ Reilly. The Benwiskin Centre

Environmental Health Officers’ Association Primary Course In Food Safety: The course is suitable for any person currently working as a food handler in food retail, catering or processing. The course will be held at The Benwiskin Centre on Saturday, 27th April 2013 from 10am - 6pm followed by the examination on Friday, 10th May 2013 from 7pm - 8pm. Rossinver Youth and Community Project (RYCP) present the Rossinver Grand National - ‘Duck Race’ at Gilbride’s on Sunday 5th May 2013 at 3 pm. With barbecue afterwards at Gilbride’s Bar. Help protect your children online

The New Ballagh Centre, Rossinver, is pleased to announce that it will be running a short course/presentation over two Thursday evenings (25th April and 2nd May) about Internet Security. This presentation will be of particular interest to parents of school-age children. The cost will be €10 and will cover refreshments. Places are limited to a maximum of twelve participants.
