40th anniversary celebrations for Intermediate champions
The celebration events to mark the fortieth anniversary of the success of the Glencar/Manorhamilton team in winning the 1973 Leitrim intermediate football championship for the first time ever will take place in Manorhamilton on Sunday June 2.
The celebration events planned for Sunday, June 2 include Mass in St. Clare’s Church for the deceased members of the Club at 11.30am; a senior interclub hurling match in the Bee Park at 2pm; a senior interclub football match in the Bee Park at 3.30pm; a photographic exhibition of players as well as of people and matters relating Manorhamilton at 7pm in the Bee Park Community Centre; a dinner followed by a presentation ceremony for the 1973 Glencar/Manor team at 8pm in Bee Park Community Centre.

Girls soccer – training for girls 10 years to 18 years takes place on Friday evenings at 6pm in St. Clare’s Primary School.
Manor Rangers are looking for girls from the North Leitrim and West Cavan area to come and join the Club. Teams have been entered in the Sligo/Leitrim League by Manor Rangers and competition is starting very soon.

Last Sunday’s Carrick Town V Manor Rangers Sligo Leitrim Premier League game was called off due to an unplayable Showgrounds pitch caused by the dreadful rain that fell on previous day.
Club Chluainín meeting
The next Club Chluainín weekly meeting takes place on Tuesday morning, February 5 in the North Leitrim Glen Centre from 11.15am to 1.15pm.
The Club organisers Mae, Kathleen and Mary are looking forward to seeing all members all members in attendance. New members are always welcome; just drop in any Tuesday morning between around 11.15am and see what Club Chluainín is about – and there is no pressure to join.
Rural Lift busses will pick-up members as usual for Tuesday’s meeting and members not travelling should call their bus driver.

Deepest sympathy is extended on his death to the family of Francis Gaffney, Cloonamahon Centre, Collooney, Co. Sligo and formerly of Larkfield, Manorhamilton.
Francis’s remains reposed at Our Lady’s Hospital Chapel, Manorhamilton on Thursday evening January, 24 prior to their removal to St. Osnat’s Church, Glencar.
His Funeral Mass and Service took place in St. Osnat’s Church on Friday morning, January 25 followed by burial in Killenora Cemetery.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Rita Keaney, Toothfield, Manorhamilton, who died suddenly at her residence on Thursday, January 24.
Her remains reposed at her brother John and Mary’s residence in Toothfield on Saturday, afternoon January 26 prior to their removal to St. Clare’s Church that evening. Rita’s Funeral Mass and Service took place on Sunday afternoon, January 27 in St. Clare’s with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Deepest sympathy is expressed to the family of Margaret McDonnell (née Carr, Carrentubber, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo and formerly of Lurganboy, Manorhamilton, who died peacefully on Wednesday, January 23 in the Community Nursing Home, Ballymote.
Margaret’s remains reposed at the Community Nursing Home, Ballymote on Sunday evening, January 27 prior to their removal to the Church of the Annunciation, Mullies. Her Funeral Mass and Service took place on Monday morning, January 28 in the Church of the Annunciation followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Son Raymond, daughters Angela and Jean, extended family, relatives and friends, survive Margaret.
Rossinver Community Action
An Open Evening for the local community groups has been organised by the Rossinver Youth and Community Project (RYCP) for the Cabin Strad Connolly Rossinver on Wednesday night, February 6 at 7.15pm.
Meanwhile an Open Day for all members of the Rossinver community will take place in the Cabin on Sunday, February 10 at 3pm.
All are invited to come down to the Cabin and see the plans for the new Community Centre, meet the Board, find out about the work of the RYCP, and ask questions. RYCP would like to point out to all in the local community, “This is your Community Centre for your Community. Come down and join us and see what is going on.”

New Historical Society
Manorhamilton and District Historical Society was formed at a recent meeting in Manorhamilton Library with a view to collating local history and heritage and where possible putting it into the public domain.
The Society will hold regular meetings and outings, and hopes to have some visiting lecturers. The following officers were elected to serve on the inaugural committee; Chairperson Oliver Haslette, Vice Chairperson, Margaret Connolly, Secretary, Joan Haslette, Assistant Secretary Breege O’Hagan, Treasurer, Sean McMorrow, PRO, Gerry Creamer.
Anyone interested in becoming involved in the on-going work of the Society is welcome to get in touch with any committee member. Membership of the society was set at €20.

A function will be held in Heraghty’s on Sunday, February 3rd at which the money raised during the recent Tractorcade will be presented to North West Hospice.
The Tractorcade was run on New Year’s Day by Manorhamilton IFA with well over 50 tractors participating. Manorhamilton IFA would like to thank all those who participated and contributed to what was a very successful event. The
presentation will be made at 9pm and all are welcome to attend.

Glencar Sewing Sessions
Sewing sessions have resumed on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in Glencar Community Centre, Diffreen. Find out how to use a sewing machine, do household sewing and use patterns.
The sewing sessions suit all levels of ability from beginners onwards and are very sociable as well as enjoyable. Participants may bring along unfinished sewing projects. First Farmers Market
The first Manorhamilton Origin Farmers Market of the month takes place on this Friday, February 1 between 10am and 2pm in the Bee Park Community Centre car park. The Market serves the Manorhamilton and North Leitrim area.
Manorhamilton’s last bingo session of the January will take place in the Bee Park Community Centre on this Wednesday night, January 30 at 9pm. A good night’s entertainment is promised by the organisers, as well great chances to win all of the prizes on offer.
Tennis lessons, which are promoted by Manorhamilton Community Tennis Club, will start on this Sunday, February 3 at the tennis courts in the Bee Park for children, adult beginners and improvers while Cardio Tennis will also get underway there at the same time.
