Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Football Championship Semi-Final draw

Champions Leitrim Gaels will face Fenagh St Caillins in this year’s Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Football Championship Semi-Finals while last year’s finalists Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins will take on Mohill after the draw was made on Sunday evening in Heartland Credit Union Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.

With table toppers Mohill and Leitrim Gaels kept apart by virtue of qualifying automatically for the semi-finals, quarter final winners Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins and Fenagh St Caillins booked their places in the last four courtesy of quarter final victories over Allen Gaels and St Mary’s Kiltoghert respectively.

Ballinamore outscored Allen Gaels by 2-10 to 0-5 in the second half of Sunday’s quarter final to reach the semi-finals once more where they will take on a Mohill team that they drew with in the group stages in Ballinamore.

Leitrim Gaels will lock horns with Fenagh St Caillins once more, having prevailed in the group stages thanks to two late Stephen Goldrick two pointers earlier in the campaign, Fenagh having beaten St Mary’s Kiltoghert 0-16 to 0-11 on Saturday.

On a dramatic final day of group games in the Smith Monumentals Intermediate Championship, Bornacoola held on for a precious 2-15 to 2-14 victory over St Patrick’s Dromahair in Kilglass Gaels’ splended facility in Roscommon. The victory saw them leapfrog both Drumkeerin and Carrigallen into the quarter-finals, the duo losing to Annaduff and Gortletteragh respectively, leaving the two losing sides in the relegation series.

Annaduff prevailed against Drumkeerin in Pairc Naomh Brid thanks to a 5-12 to 1-16 scoreline, Darren Cox grabbing two goals after the sides were level at 3-1 to 1-7 at halftime. In Carrigallen, the home side made the early running and led by a point at the break but a storming final quarter from Gortletteragh saw them qualify for the quarter-finals with a 3-18 to 0-14 victory.

Melvin Gaels’ ground-breaking game under new manager Nicola Brennan didn’t have a fairytale finish as Aughavas claimed a 1-10 to 1-7 victory over the Kinlough men, securing second place in the group and an automatic semi-final spot.

The results means that Dromahair take on Gortletteragh next Saturday in the first quarter-final, part of a double header with Aughawillan taking on Glencar Manorhamilton in the Connacht Gold SFC Relegation Final. On Sunday, Bornacoola take on Melvin Gaels in the second IFC quarter-final, all three games taking place in Heartland Credit Union Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada while Sunday also sees the final round of games in the Fresh Today Junior A Championship.
