Sligo Rovers have confirmed that goalkeeper Micheal Schlingermann has left the club today by mutual consent.

Schlingermann signed with the Bit O'Red for a second stint at the start of the 2016 season having made his league debut for the club in 2009.

He subsequently enjoyed spells with Athlone Town, Monaghan United and Drogheda United and was also the Mayo minor goalkeeper in the 2009 All-Ireland Final.

Schlingermann began this season as the Bit O'Red's first choice goalkeeper but hasn't featured since a 2-0 defeat at home to Derry City on April 7.

Sligo Rovers chairman Martin Heraghty said, "Micheál has been a big part of the club since signing in 2016 and has been a great ambassador for Rovers. We wish him well in the future and thank him for his service."
