Fianna Fáil's Justin Warnock has been elected as the new Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council this afternoon.
He was proposed by Cllr Mary Bohan and seconded by Cllr Seán McDermott.
Cllr Warnock replaces outgoing Cathaoirleach Fine Gael's Ita Reynolds-Flynn.
Fianna Fail Councillor Caillian Ellis proposed Councillor Paddy O'Rourke for Leas Cathaoirleach and was seconded by Ms Reynolds-Flynn.
Speaking to the Leitrim Observer, The Kinlough man, who was joined by several of his family members, said it was a "great week" for him adding that he finds "the people of Leitrim warm and easy to work with."
