Ballimamore Community Nursing Unit & Primary Care Centre officially opened today

Leitrim Guardian Person of the Year 2017  Hubert McHugh officially opened the purpose built Community Nursing Unit & Primary Care Centre in Ballinamore, today, December 19.

The 20 bed nursing centre and the Primary Care Centre includes for GP facilities, public health nurses, chiropodist, physio, Dental and other day care services. It cost €5.8 million to build.

Gerladine Malarkey said the centre recently had a good report from HIQA in October. Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan who turned the sod on the site over three years ago spoke at the very well attended event.

Hubert McHugh said he hopes to instill the importance of volunteering and care of our elderly during his year as Leitrim Person of the Year

Frank Morrson from the HSE North West said the centre is part of the HSE's plan for the entire region and revealed the next Primary Care Centre will be opened within the next two years in Carrick-on-Shannon.
