‘Song of the Sea’ - Q&A film screening with David Rawle

To tie in with the recent release of the Irish animated film ‘Song of the Sea’, Carrick Cinepex will hold a special screening of the film this Friday, July 24 at 6.15pm with a live question and answers session afterwards with Carrigallen native David Rawle (Moone Boy), who voices one of the lead characters in this stunning film.

Directed by Tomm Moore, ‘Song of the Sea‘ is an Irish animated fantasy film by Kilkenny’s Cartoon Saloon, which was founded by Boyle native Paul Young.

It was nominated for an Oscar in the 2015 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature, following in the footsteps of the highly successful history of ‘The Secret of Kells’ which was nominated in the 2009.

Song of the Sea tells a story about Ben (David Rawle) and his selkie sister and their travels through Ireland, into the fairy world and back home.

With beautiful animation and a soundtrack dominated by the musical talents of world renowned Irish Artists; Kíla and Lisa Hannigan, a star studded cast including David, Brendan Gleeson,Fionnula Flanagan, Pat Shortt and more, ‘Song of the Sea’ is a must see for those young and old. After the screening of the film on Friday, there will be a questions and answers session with David where he will discuss his experiences of participating in this exciting Irish production.
