Three tractors stolen in north Leitrim

Gardai in Carrick-on-Shannon are investigating the theft of three tractors and other machinery in north Co Leitrim.

A red Massey Ferguson tractor was stolen from a farm at Drumconnor, Dromahair on Friday night, November 4, at 11pm.

Then in the early hours of Monday, November 7, a multi-coloured Massey Ferguson tractor was stolen, with its keys, from a shed on a farm in Ballaghnabehy, Glenfarne, close to the Big Bog Cross on the Manorhamilton to Glenfarne road. Gardai say this theft occurred between 12.30am and 12.40am.

Approximately five minutes later, in the same townland, another tractor was stolen from a farm, as well as a quad bike and a log splitter.

Gardai believe all the incidents are connected and are anxious to hear from anybody who may have seen people acting suspiciously in those areas.

They are particularly anxious to speak to people who may have seen a yellow Ford Transit van which was seen in the Dromahair area and also seen in the Glenfarne area from 9.30pm on November 6 to 12.45am on November 7.

Gardai say an articulated lorry or trailer would have been needed to transport the machinery out of the area.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station on 071 9650510.
