Gardai in Leitrim have issued an update for motorists in the Leitrim area and published some dramatic pictures of the damage Storm Ali is doing to trees in the county.

The strong winds have resulted in poor travelling conditions region wide.
In Leitrim:
▪ A downed power line on the N4 at Cortober has just been made safe by ESB Crews.
▪ Leitrim Road approx. 2km outside Carrick on Shannon - reduced to one lane (tree down).
▪ Ballinamore Road from Carrick-on-Shannon - fully blocked in a number of areas.
▪ Number of trees on road in Fenagh.
▪ Keshcarrigan to Letterfine Road - completely blocked with large tree.
▪ Road fully blocked on Drumkeerin to Manorhamilton Road with large tree.
▪ ESB Pole and wires down in Lurganboy Village.
▪ Drumkeerin Village – Trees down.
▪ ESB Pole down in Dromahair.
▪ Mohill Road from N4 fully obstructed.
We appeal to motorists to drive carefully in the extreme conditions and to avoid driving during this weather unless the journey is absolutely necessary.
