Met Éireann has issued a Fog Warning for Leinster, Munster and Galway

Met Éireann has issued fresh fog warnings for large parts of Ireland as temperatures are set to drop ahead of the weekend.

The national forecaster has issued warnings covering Leinster, Munster and Galway, with motorists being urged to take extra care as visibility deteriorates overnight.

The warnings will come into effect at 10pm on Friday night, November 6, and remain in place until 10am on Saturday morning, November 7.

Dense fog is expected to develop across affected areas, potentially leading to difficult driving conditions and reduced visibility on roads.

The warnings come as Met Éireann forecasts a chilly start to the weekend, with overnight temperatures expected to fall to a low 2 degrees.

Members of the public are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest weather forecasts and warnings on the Met Éireann website.

Met Éireann has also given its five-day-forecast, predicting settled conditions for the rest of the weekend but turning breezier on Monday with rain spreading from the southwest on Tuesday.

Today

Cloudy or overcast for the rest of today with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle, heavier at times across parts of Leinster and southeast Munster. Cool with highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees, in just a light northeasterly or variable breeze.

Patches of drizzle will affect the country early tonight with more general rain affecting the north and northeast later. Mist and fog will form in near calm, especially across Munster and Leinster. The fog will become dense across the southern half of the country with impaired visibility. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 9 degrees, coldest where any clearer breaks occur at length.

Tomorrow

Widespread mist and fog at first on Saturday with poor visibility, especially across Leinster and Munster. The fog will very gradually clear during the morning but will possibly linger in places.

Dull and damp for a time across the north, northeast and the north-midlands with scattered rain and drizzle. However, the day will slowly improve with bright or sunny spells developing. Cool and calm with highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

Most areas will be dry on Saturday night but isolated showers will occur in parts of Ulster and Connacht. It'll be a foggy night with light winds and lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.

Sunday

A foggy morning on Sunday, with fog lingering in some areas into the afternoon. It'll be a largely dry day with light easterly or variable winds and highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.

A dry night with fog setting in across much of the country again, except in the southwest where a moderate to fresh easterly wind will develop and cloud will build. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.

Monday

Fog will lift during Monday morning and most areas will stay dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, although outbreaks of rain will develop in the southwest towards the evening. Breezier than recent days with a moderate to fresh easterly wind. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.

Tuesday

A dry and bright start over the northern half of the country Tuesday. Dull and damp conditions in the southwest will slowly spread northwards through the day. Highest temperatures of 9 to 14 degrees in moderate to fresh east to southeast winds.
