Residents are "eager to see something done" at Hilly Road, Drumshanbo, Leitrim, a meeting heard this week.
Cllr Brendan Barry asked that road widening and safety works be carried out on the location with "particular focus on the dangerous narrow bend beside Hylands house in Aghnagollop. Vehicles regularly collide at this location and it needs to be made safe as a priority."
Cllr Barry asked that the council meet with the residents in order to see if a solution can be found.

He continued: "A lot more people are using the Hilly Road to go to Carrick-on-Shannon and that is the most dangerous spot on it at the minute."
He was advised that the district engineer's office will write to the land owner and see if they are amenable to Leitrim County
Council purchasing the slither of land, and shed, to allow a minor road realignment.
The response concluded: "If this is the case, then we can apply for a low cost safety scheme at this location."

Cllr Enda McGloin noted that previously, funding was secured under the low cost safety scheme for works to be carried out on the road but the scheme was abandoned due to a breakdown in communication with the various stakeholders.
He said he felt it was important that negotiation with the homeowners at the location should precede any application for the scheme. "We have to make sure that their expectations on what they would get for another shed to replace the existing one is managed."
It was agreed that council staff would organise a meeting with residents at the location.
