The late Michael McNamara of Carrickavoher, Aughavas, Co. Leitrim
Cllr Paddy O'Rourke proposed a vote of sympathy be sent to the family of the late Michael McNamara of Carrickavoher, Aughavas, Co. Leitrim who died on Thursday July 10 who worked with Leitrim County Council and was also a talented musician.
Michael was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Sweeney) sister, Margaret Creamer and infant brother Francis.
Deeply regretted and fondly remembered by his sons; Brian (Rita), Ray (Mary), Ciaran (Nicola) and Enda (Maureen), his daughter Deirdre (Nevan), his adored grandchildren; Cathal, Éanna, Meadhbh, Róisín, Áine, Katie, Emily, Jack and Madeleine, brothers; Pat and Kevin, sister Josie, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

His funeral mass took place on Monday July 14 in St. Joseph's Church, Aughavas with a burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Cllr O'Rourke said: "He was a craftsman with Leitrim County Council and left behind a great legacy throughout south Leitrim; he worked both in the Mohill and Ballinamore area for 25 years or more and the extent of his craftsmanship is to be seen; he did a lot of work on The Corn Mill Theatre and Arts Centre and a lot around Mohill. He had many other talents of course, he was a talented musician and tutored young musicians."

The family all played music and are featured on the family recording 'Leitrim’s Hidden Treasure; which was launched in 1998. The recording presents music that Michael had learned from the musicians in the south Leitrim area as well as music from collections associated with this same area, such as the Stephen Grier Collection.
