Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to parts of South Leitrim following a significant burst on the trunk water main.
Customers in Ballinamore, Fenagh and surrounding areas will experience a disruption to their supply this morning while repair works are being carried out on the burst located between Ballinamore and Ardrum.
Uisce Éireann’s Kevin Love has assured that a team is on site and working to restore a normal water supply as soon as possible.
“It’s expected to have repairs completed and a normal water supply will be restored to the majority of customers this afternoon. However, it may take longer for customers on higher ground or at the end of the network to have a full supply restored,” Mr Love said.

“Uisce Éireann acknowledges and regrets the frequency of bursts on this water main and the impact that supply disruptions have had on our customers in the Ballinamore area. Uisce Éireann has collated records of the locations of bursts, burst history and frequency and will continue to monitor future mains failures as they occur.
“We will use this information to inform water mains replacement projects under our Leakage Reduction Programme. This will be subject to prioritisation with other emerging needs in the region and available funding,” he added.
Customers can stay informed across multiple platforms. Uisce Éireann encourages customers to engage via their website, their X channels (@IWCare and @IrishWater), or through the 24/7 customer care helpline at 1800 278 278.
Uisce Éireann also offers a free text alert service, providing real-time updates on local issues. Customers can sign up with their Eircode and mobile number at water.ie.
