Pearse Logan and his father Hugh Logan who has closed his butcher shop on Main Street, Mohill
It was the end of an era in Mohill when it was announced this week that Hugh Logan's Butchers in Mohill had closed.
In a post thanking his customers, Hugh said, “After over 40 years personally running this business, which has been in operation and direct ownership by our family for one hundred years from this very premises on Main Street, the time has come for me to say goodbye as Hugh Logan's Butchers has now closed.
“Creating and running this traditional craft family butchers, and following on in a family legacy and tradition has been a great honour and privilege.
“I am so very grateful that you, my customers, embraced and supported my business over all these years.
“Being part of your weekly shop and routine has been both a privilege and immensely satisfying.
“I wish to acknowledge and pay tribute to the many people who worked alongside me over the years, whether that be in the shop, abattoir or assisting on the farm. I am thankful for their time, energy and commitment to Logan's, but most importantly for their support and friendship.
“Thanks also to our many suppliers, producers and service providers, environmental officers, county vet, neighbours and the wider business community in Mohill.
“Finally a special word of thanks to my family and friends for their unwavering support, guidance and encouragement over the years. It was an absolute pleasure to get to know you all and I will greatly miss the friendship and chats.”
