Drumsna wants old bins returned

Leitrim County Council solar bin

Leitrim County Council has been installing and replacing old rubbish bins with new solar bins which close and keep the rubbish compact for collection.

Cllr Finola Armstrong McGuire informed the local authority that the people of Drumsna say the solar bin “looks too modern” for their heritage village and are looking for the old bins to be replaced.

Senior Council engineer Darragh O’Boyle said “there were 13 bins in Drumsna - I don’t know how or why.”
He said he removed eight old bins and replaced them with four new solar bins. He said he would not replace the old bins but he will just remove the modern bins entirely.

Drumsna must wait for funding in 2023 for any re-surfacing works on the Main Street, from Belmont to the bridge.
Cllr Enda Stenson raised the issue but was told that the funding for the N4 route this year was assigned for the Faulties to Dromod section.
Leitrim County Council will apply for Drumsna next year.
