Power outages and stormy conditions persist in Leitrim

The ESB has reported over 1,000 power outages across Leitrim, Roscommon, Longford and Sligo.

As of December 30, 959 homes in Carrigallen are without electricity following strong winds and rain spells.

The ESB is working to restore power to the affected areas.

13 ESB customers in Arigna are without power, along with 143 in Ballaghaderreen, 118 across County Sligo, and 37 in the Longford area.

Yellow weather warnings have so far been issued by Met Éireann for counties Donegal, Mayo, Galway, Cork and Kerry.

There are currently no warnings in operation for Leitrim.

The ESB reminds the public to never approach fallen electricity wires as they are live and very dangerous.

Leitrim’s forecast predicts continued wet and windy conditions in the coming days, with lowest temperatures ranging from eight to 10 degrees.

Early in the new year, temperatures are expected to occasionally drop to freezing.
