A planning application has been submitted to Leitrim County Council seeking to construct a solar farm project in Mullanadarragh, near Carrigallen.
The application, submitted by Sollugh Ltd., seeks to build a 10MW solar farm with ground-mounted solar panels and string inverters on solar tables.
The proposed development consists of three containerised medium voltage cabins, equipped with switchgear, protection equipment, and transformers.
Also included in the application is a 20kV substation and an underground connection to the Carrigallen 38kV substation in the public road.

Furthermore, the proposal includes a spare parts storage container, the provision of access tracks and the upgrading of existing tracks, upgrading areas for material storage, and all ancillary development such as fencing, CCTV, and drainage.
The planning permission requested is 10 years for construction, with the solar farm having an operational life of 40 years.
The development is covered by the provisions of the Renewable Energy Directive III (Directive (EU) 2023/2413), and the planning application is subject to Section 34D of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.
The planning application can be inspected or purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, at the offices of the Planning Authority during public opening hours.

Members of the public may make a submission or observation in writing to the Planning Authority, on payment of the prescribed fee (€20), within five weeks of receiving the application.
A decision on the application is due to be made by Leitrim County Council by January 24.
