Tributes have been pouring in for a Manorhamilton man who passed away on Wednesday, September 24.

John Kennedy, of Park Road, Manorhamilton, and formerly of Creggs, Roscommon, passed away peacefully in the loving care of the staff at North West Hospice.

Mr Kennedy was a retired Ulster Bank Manager at the Manorhamilton branch. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Annette, children Niall, Nuala, and Damien; daughters-in-law Martina and Sheila; grandchildren Austin, Alex, Emmet, and Remy; niece Maura Quinn; sister-in-law Yvonne; brother-in-law Fergus; as well as his extended family, neighbours, and many friends.

Condolences have been shared on RIP.ie, reflecting on Mr. Kennedy’s warm nature. “I worked in Bank of Ireland Manorhamilton and knew John from my days there. A real gentleman. May his gentle soul rest in peace,” one message read.

Another remembered his determination, “He was a true gentleman to everyone, who had great grit and determination to keep out and about for his daily walks throughout the years, despite his health challenges. He will be so missed by you his family.”

Mr Kennedy will repose at Our Lady’s Hospital Chapel, Manorhamilton, on Saturday, September 27, from 5pm to 7pm. Removal will take place from his family home on Sunday for Funeral Mass at 2:30pm in St. Clare’s Church, Manorhamilton, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only are requested. Donations, if desired, may be made to North West Hospice. The family home is private.

Further condolences recalled his kind and fun-loving character. “We have many wonderful memories of John when we all lived in the same estate in Tuam. And had many enjoyable gatherings in the different houses and many card games. John was a welcoming host and an entertaining guest. We will always cherish these great memories.”
