An Tóstal 2018 kicks off this Sunday (Funday) July 1 in Drumshanbo and will continue for seven days of pure craic.
Sunday's massive parade which includes Mattie Griffin and his amazing and crazy motor bike stunts starts at 4.30pm.
Michael Harding, author and columnist will perform the official opening of a jammed packed week of events from 5pm, the parade will be based on the theme of ‘The Blueway’ and the 2018 An Tóstal Queen will be crowned.
The week continues with a host of different activities and events. Monday, July 2 will see the start of Fishing Workshops, as well as bingo and a cinema by the lake showing Despicable Me 3 at 7pm. The cinema event is free.
For anyone interested in learning to become a DJ, workshops start on Tuesday, July 3 from 7pm. There will be a charity walk along the stunning boardwalk which will be led by the new 2018 An Tóstal Colleen and this year's Leitrim Rose Imelda Scally at 8pm. The walk is being held in aid of St Ciaran’s Day Centre, Carrick-on-Shannon.
The annual table quiz will be held in Berry’s Tavern at 9pm on Wednesday, July 4 with proceeds going to South Leitrim Special Olympics Athlete Niamh McGovern from Drumkeerin.
There will be plenty of activities on the water at Lough Allen Adventure Centre before the unmissable Gin Taste Evening of one of Drumshanbo's most successful products, Gunpowder Gin at the Shed Distillery on Thursday, July 5.
Friday, July 6 sees the Children’s Scavanger Hunt from 6pm and what should be a fun yet competitive event An Tostal’s Fittest Feckers on the High St from 8pm. The team of four must include one female, one person over 40 years and one person under 18 years.
Murrays amusements will be in Drumshanbo for the week and on Saturday, July 7 we have a fantastic Family Fun Day with land and water sports, canoeing, kayaking, sailing on the lake, bouncy castles, circus acts, civil defence show and dog show .
To finish off the 2018 festival is the Stylish Silage Wrap Party where the winner of the Stylish Silage competition will be announced in The Lough Allen Hotel .
