Time change for Leitrim's FBD Insurance League clash with Galway as tickets selling fast
Leitrim teams could be forgiven for thinking that they've taken up residence in the NUI Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome this week with the county's teams in action in the venue three times in the coming four days although fans intending on travelling to Bekan for Friday's FBD Insurance Connacht League clash with Galway are urged to get their tickets right away.
With Leitrim supporters all over the world on the road for the 50 Miles in January Challenge, the county's teams are already logging up the miles on the road as the 2023 inter-county season sees them in competitive action in the fabulous indoor facility in Bekan four times inside the first week of the new year.
Leitrim hurlers take on Roscommon tonight (Wednesday January 4) at 6 pm in the Connacht Hurling League semi-final after their impressive 4-23 to 1-18 victory over Mayo last Monday with both teams guaranteed another outing next Saturday in the competition's Shield and Cup Finals.
Leitrim players will now face three games on the astro-turf surface in the dome in the space of six days and may have a bit of difficulty getting time off work with the early start on Wednesday. New York, who defeated Longford on Monday, take on a Galway Development squad in the second game tonight.
On Friday evening, Andy Moran's Senior footballers begin their 2023 season when they take on reigning Connacht Senior and FBD Insurance League champions Galway at the changed time of 7.30 pm in what will be their second visit to Bekan this week having trained at the venue early on Monday.
Leitrim will be captained for the second time by Fenagh St Caillins Donal Wrynn in the absence of Leitrim Gaels David Bruen with St Mary's Kiltoghert's Mark Diffley taking over as vice-captain role.
Fans are reminded that there is limited spectator capacity for all the games in the Air Dome and tickets can be purchased via the Leitrim County Board and Connacht GAA websites.
For those interested, you can still sign up for the “50 Miles in January Challenge” - simply log onto the Leitrim GAA website and enter your details. But hurry as there is a limited supply of the popular 2023 hat so sign up as soon as you can!
