Abandoned League game refixed as draws for Vistamed Junior Championships made

The abandoned Masonite Division 2 game between Allen Gaels and Ballinaglera will be replayed next Wednesday, July 19, after the Leitrim CCC refixed the game.

The derby clash attracted widespread national attention after it was abandoned following the controversial decision of referee Brendan Healy to throw the ball in for the second half without the Ballinaglera players on the field.

After Allen Gaels scored an unopposed goal albeit with a spectator trying to stop Brian Mulvey's shot from reaching the net, furious Ballinaglera players surrounded the Roscommon official with the game eventually being abandoned. Ballinaglera were also handed a fine by the CCC but the Observer understands that the club are appealing that decision.

In other news, the draws were made for the Vistamed Leitrim Junior A, B & C Championships on Monday evening with some intriguing contests in store.

In the Junior A grade, first teams Cloone and Glenfarne Kiltyclogher were drawn in the same group with Melvin Gaels and Mohill while Eslin will face last year's finalists St Mary's Kiltoghert and neighbours Annaduff along with Gortletteragh.
