St Mary's All Stars win Leitrim Observer Unsung Hero Award

St Mary’s Kiltoghert’s groundbreaking All Star programme has been named as the winner of the Unsung Hero award at this year’s Leitrim Sports Star Awards, organised by the Leitrim Sports Partnership.

The Leitrim Sports Star Awards will take place on Saturday February 10, in the Lough Rynn Castle Estate & Gardens Hotel in Mohill and will recognise the brightest and best of Leitrim sport from 2023 and the Unsung Hero Award is an opportunity to cast an eye on those who may be operating slightly below the radar but whose achievements are every bit as inspirational.

Every parish, town and club have their unsung heroes who give so much of their time and effort and all without thought of reward or acclaim and the Leitrim Sports Partnership Unsung Award, in association with the Leitrim Observer, wants to recognise these local heroes.

St Mary’s All Stars qualifies on all counts as their initiative helps support children with any additional need which hinders their full participation in mainstream sport.

With an emphasis on engagement, participation, the development of fundamental movement skills and, most importantly, fun in a safe environment, St Mary’s All Stars seeks to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all children can participate as training sessions are specially designed to accommodate children of all abilities.

The purpose of the Leitrim Sports Star Awards, now in its 12th year under the auspices of the Leitrim Sports Partnership, is to acknowledge Individuals, Sports Clubs, Teams, Schools and Community Volunteers for their outstanding contributions to and achievements in sport and recreation in Leitrim.

Tickets are selling fast and details on how you can get your tickets are available on the Leitrim Sports Partnership website at www.leitrimsports.ie, calling 071 9650498 or emailing sports@leitrimcoco.ie
