Leitrim have been handed a huge boost for the neutral venue clash with Kildare in the final round of the Tailteann Cup after the game has been fixed for Longford's Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Saturday June 1.

The game will form part of a double header at the Longford venue with a 6 pm throw-in for the clash of Andy Moran's side with the Lilywhites, the game preceded by the Group 3 clash of Fermanagh and Laois at 3.45 pm on the same day.

After playing Longford at the home venue last Sunday and Leitrim potentially having to play outside the county for a home preliminary quarter-final clash if they failed to beat Kildare, it could mean that the Green & Gold could play a third game in a row at home of their Leinster neighbours and a fourth this year after playing Longford in the League in Pearse Park.

That decision could come down to who Leitrim might face in a preliminary quarter-final, if they fail to beat Kildare, with capacity considerations coming into play. With New York potentially among the opponents, it may be that a preliminary quarter final against New York could be staged in Ballinamore but that decision will come from Croke Park.
