Leitrim's relegation semi-final with Mayo has been fixed for Tubbercurry's Kilcoyne Park on Saturday July 5, with a 2pm throw-in as the Connacht duo bid to stay in the TG4 LGFA All-Ireland Senior Championship for 2025.
Leitrim will face Connacht rivals Mayo for a second time in the championship after the Green & Gold suffered a 6-16 to 3-4 loss against Waterford last Saturday in Avant Money Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.
Despite an improved display against the Munster women after their 35 point defeat at the hands of Dublin the previous Sunday, the 21 point loss left Leitrim bottom of the table of Group 4 and plunged Jonny Garrity's into the relegation series alongside Armagh, Donegal and Mayo.
The relegation semi-finals will take place on Saturday July 5, at neutral venues with the losers facing into a relegation final a week later on July 12.
Leitrim played Mayo in the first game of the Connacht Championship, losing narrowly 2-11 to 1-11 in Swinford at the end of April. Many felt that Leitrim had left the game behind them as they missed two late goal chances that could have seen them surprise the home side.
That loss diverted Leitrim into the group with Dublin and Waterford while Mayo lost 0-13 to 1-4 against All-Ireland champions Kerry before Cork pipped them 3-8 to 1-10 in a thrilling contest.
