Aughnasheelin's AIB Connacht Intermediate Club Championship semi final against St Dominics will not take place in Cloone after the pitch failed a pre match pitch inspection.

Connacht GAA officials will refix the game tomorrow evening at their meeting of their Competitions Control Committee with the Connacht Final against Dunmore McHales of Galway fixed for the weekend of December 3-4.

Provincial officials had sought various other options to host the game including moving the game to the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan but the move was rejected.

The semi-final had originally been fixed for Avant Money Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada but after torrential rain early on Sunday morning, the Carrick-on-Shannon failed a pitch inspection which necessitated the move to Cloone at short notice. Pairc Sean had hosted the Connacht Senior Club Semi-Final between St Mary's Kiltoghert and Tourlestrane on Saturday afternoon.

It is the second time this year that Avant Money Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada was unable to host a high profile game after the Leitrim v London Allianz NFL Division 4 clash in February was moved to the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence.

There was also an element of history repeating itself as the last time Aughnasheelin won the Leitrim Intermediate Championship title in 2017, their Connacht Club game against Sligo's St John's was switched to the Connacht Centre of Excellence from the original venue of Markievicz Park was switched as it was due to host Sligo County Finals the following day.
