The Rubber Duck race will be held on September 13th

The annual Rossinver duck race, which was scheduled to take place earlier in the summer but had to be postponed due the lack of water in the Ballagh River which was caused by almost zero rainfall in the weeks prior event's original date, has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 13 at 2pm, starting outside St. Aidan's Church.

The popular duck race is promoted as an annual fundraiser to keep Rossinver Community Centre in operation and provide valuable services for the local community, as well as for the surrounding communities.

All who wish to support the duck race fundraiser are invited to purchase lines for the event, with one duck race line costing €2 and three duck race lines costing €5.

The prizes for duck race winners are €100 for first place, €50 for second place and €25 for third place. Duck race lines can be purchased from Rossinver Community Centre, phone 071-9832970.

The duck race is organised by the Rossinver Youth and Community Project (RYCP). Regarding their rescheduled annual fundraiser a RYCP spokesperson said “now we have finally had a little rain to raise the water level (in the Ballagh River0 we are pleased to announce the date for our Duck Race will be on 13th September at 2pm.

“If you would like to purchase lines in advance of the race, call into us at the Community Centre” the RYCP spokesperson added.
