Twitter users have praised a Garda for sanding dangerous roads on the back of a trailer.
According to An Garda Síochána's official Twitter account, Garda Murphy and a local farmer filled a trailer of sand to grit local roads in Buncrana, Co Donegal.
In a video posted by the account yesterday (Tuesday January 17), Garda Murphy can be seen shovelling sand onto a snow-covered road, which had reportedly begun to freeze over.
Garda Murphy in Buncrana watched as it rained, hailed, snowed and began to freeze over - making for dangerous road conditions.

Off he went to borrow a shovel, commandeer a local farmer and together they loaded up a trailer of sand to grit local roads.#KeepingPeopleSafe pic.twitter.com/pfyuroAMfX
One Twitter user said "Good man Garda Murphy" with another commenting "Hope they went for a well-deserved pint afterwards".
A further commenter said, "Great to see.. reminds me of the rural gardai of days gone by. This is very rare now.." with another saying, "What a guy... sometimes you have to do it yourself....I hope he gets the recognition he deserves... this is definitely a call over and beyond the call of duty."
Well done… going over an beyond to keep the people safe!

Pity about the select group of elite, who destroy everything good AGS do, pity about the conditions AGS work in! It truly is a shame on @DeptJusticeIRL that allow the horrific conditions AGS work in!
Now that’s what you called a good old fashioned Garda for the people and well done that farmer

That was Buncrana, Co. Donegal last night. Very heavy snow shower and roads were treacherous after the roads had been already gritted. Well done to Garda Murphy

Wow! Kudos to him and the kidnapped farmer. One has to wonder why it wasn’t the CC doing this
