Seven time All-Ireland winner Jonny Cooper is the special guest for the Leitrim Sports Star Awards which will take place on Saturday February 4, in The Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon.

The two-time All-Star announced his retirement at the end of last year after a trophy laden career that included six National League titles, All-Ireland U21 and Junior titles as well as ten Leinster victories and he is sure to be an engaging guest on the event.

In addition to his sporting achievements, Cooper made headlines in 2014 when he was the victim of an attack late at night in Dublin. This didn’t keep him down though and he bounced back to continue success by winning All-Ireland medals each year from 2015 to 2020.

The purpose of the awards is to acknowledge Individuals, Sports Clubs, Teams, Schools and Community Volunteers for their outstanding contributions to and achievements in sport and recreation in Leitrim. A full list of nominees can be found on www.leitrimsports.ie.

The awards night is organised by Leitrim Sports Partnership with a four course meal followed by the awards.
