Junior Boys Football
Hard luck to Mr Mallon and the Junior Boys on their defeat in the Connaught final last Friday week. The game took place in Ballyhaunis, in the Centre of Excellence. The boys fought the brave fight and battled to the end but were just pipped to the post by a stronger Ballymote team. Congratulations to the them and hard luck to our boys. Lovely to see Mr Doherty reunited with the team for the day that was in it.

Girls Basketball
The First and Second Year girls basketball teams played against St Attracta’s, Tubbercurry last Tuesday in Mohill CC. Despite valiant efforts from both teams, we were defeated by two much more experienced teams. The First-Year game ended with a result of 18 29. The top basket scorer was Jayden Beirne.
The Second-Year game score was 15 27 with Sarah Gray scoring the most baskets for the Second-Year side. Thanks to Ms Gillespie for coaching and mentoring both teams. Thanks to the Fifth-Year students who helped out on the day.

ETBI Anniversary
This week marks ten years of ETBI education in Ireland and as an ETB school we had a number of celebratory activities across the week. We welcomed four new Ukrainian students into Second-Year.
The students arrived at school on Monday and received a warm welcome from their colleagues in Second-Year. To mark ETBI Week and welcome our new students, we had a tea party on Tuesday. Second Year students enjoyed an informal cup of tea, treats and a chat in the canteen during English class.
They welcomed the new recruits and just enjoyed each other's company. Thanks to Ms Dolan and Ms Reilly from the Ethos Committee for organising and to Ms McGirl and Ms McManus for helping out.
As part of the celebrations, Ms Dolan's First Year students, created some Happy Anniversary cards to mark the occasion of the ten-year anniversary of ETBI education. Staff also marked the occasion by having a tea party of their own.
After school on Friday last, staff were treated to food and drinks in the staff room, they had a chance to sit down together at the end of the week and mark the occasion in each other's company. Thanks to Ms Duffy for organising this special treat.

Boys Basketball
Our First and Second Year Boys Basketball teams had a game against Bundoran on Wednesday last. Both teams had fantastic wins which sees them advance to the semi-finals. Well done to the teams and Mr Mallon. Thank you to the Fifth-Year students who helped out at the game and to Francis McGowan for refereeing.

Girls Football
Under 14 girls had a home game on Wednesday, against Ballinamore. The final score was 4 14 to 5 06, in Ballinamore's favour. It was a great performance by the girls, a great battle with Ballinamore. Man of the match, for us, went to Molly Conroy, she played her heart out. It was tight for most of the game, our girls played some great football, but Ballinamore just seemed to get the scores in. Thanks to Eamonn Healy and Jonathan Boyle for their help and encouragement. Thanks to Ms Maxwell for coaching and mentor the girls.

Careers
Thank you to King and Moffatt Building Services who spoke to 6th years this week about summer jobs, programmes and apprenticeships on offer. For more info, interested students can email hr@kingandmoffatt.com. Thanks to Ms Moran for organising this worthwhile talk.

Third Year Talk
On Wednesday our Third Years took part in the Be Well Programme on anxiety and stress with Aoife from Youthwork Ireland. This talk educated students on how to deal with their stress and look after their wellbeing as they face into the difficult months ahead, facing their first set of state exams in June. Students learned coping mechanisms and how to remain healthy during stressful time. Thanks to Ms Hanly and Ms Moran for organising.

World Book Day
World Book Day took place on Thursday, March 2nd. We like to celebrate all things book related in our English department and this day was no different. Ms Dolan and Ms McGirl celebrated and encouraged reading by having their First-Years give presentations on their favourite authors and favourite books. This was also a nice taster for CBA 1 next year where students will have to give an oral presentation on a topic of their choice.
