Africa Day celebrations are organised by Irish Aid at the Department of Foreign Affairs in partnership with African embassies in Ireland and local authorities around the country.
Commenting, Cathaoirleach Ita Reynolds-Flynn, said: “I welcome this occasion to celebrate African diversity and culture. Events like this help to promote integration, respect, and better understanding of the different cultures in our community.
“Africa Day also represents an important opportunity to raise awareness of the progress which is being achieved in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs and Agenda 2030), and the challenges that remain to ensure that no-one is left behind.”
