Cllr Enda Stenson said that it was an “enormous achievement” for Carrick-on-Shannon to be named as overall winner of Best Kept Town competition 2023 and thanked those involved, particularly Tidy Town members, Chamber of Commerce and the Local Authority and called for a reception to honour those involved.

Lar Power, Chief Executive at Leitrim County Council said he agreed that the achievement should be celebrated.

Cllr Finola Armstrong-McGuire, who is a seasoned Tidy Town member herself acknowledged the "hard work and volunteer attitude in Carrick" and said that a number of Ukrainians have come on board to help. She also praised the council who she said have been hugely supportive and said that voluntary organisations such as Tidy Towns are a "great mental health help to people".
