Bright Sparks drama project starts at The Dock

The Dock is hosting a new weekly drama project for young people

An exciting new weekly drama project for young people entitled Bright Sparks commences at the Dock Arts Centre, Carrick on Shannon on Thursday, September 21. This unique project, supported by Creative Ireland, will be facilitated by professional theatre practitioner Maura Williamson with Gavin Sweeney and Emily Sachs Eldridge.

The project is designed for unique young people aged 10 to 17 years that have an interest in creativity and drama, those whose imagination and love for creative story making can play an important role in coping with day-to-day life challenges. Bright Sparks workshops feature theatre exercises, movement, voice, music, improvisation and character roleplay where participants get to use their creativity to develop dexterity and physical, cognitive and emotional strengths.

The project will work with small groups in a creative, fun, safe and playful environment, engaging at a slower pace, giving everyone the space and time to develop their own unique voice where members can explore new ways of using these talents and newfound tools to support them in their own lives, to be accepted for their own individuality and uniqueness, and to be heard. This foundation is designed to give members the armour to thrive in bigger group settings and meet day-to-day life challenges using the creative tools in their kit bag.
Places on the programme are limited, so please get in contact soon. For further information go to www.leitrimyoutharts.com or email Maura Williamson on LYTCarraig03@gmail.com.
