There may have been bedlam going on all around him but Jordan Reynolds admitted he was just trying to soak it all in after Mohill reclaimed the Connacht Gold Leitrim SFC title last Sunday in Avant Money Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada.

The Leitrim star missed most of the year through injury but just as he did in the group stages game against St Mary’s Kiltoghert, Reynolds hit the net with a vital goal in the first half but in the aftermath of the 2-10 to 0-14 triumph, Jordan was struggling to take it all in.

“I’m just actually trying to take it all in here, it is unreal,” admitted Jordan when collared by the Observer, “I didn’t think back in January or February when I did my knee that I’d be back but this was always the goal. I’m delighted to get back and play my part. It is a team effort, it is not just me but I’m lost for words, I’m delighted.”

With St Mary’s dominating the first half, Jordan never lost confidence that Mohill would find a way back into the contest: “We knew what Carrick were going to throw at us and we just said we’d keep trucking, we’ll keep sticking to the system. The shots weren’t going over but we knew that we’d get them and it was just a matter of time before we got them.

“I know we missed a few goal chances - one we missed in the first, two in the second but the ones we took made all the difference and that’s all that counts.”

One of the main aims in the Mohill camp this year was to play without fear and they certainly did that: “It is a contrast to last year - when we looked at it last year, there was that fear of losing but there was no fear of losing in the group anymore. We were just delighted to get back here and if Carrick beat us and we performed to our max, fair play to them but we just wanted to come out here and perform and that’s what we done and it was enough.

Mohill celebrate wildly as they regain the Connacht Gold Leitrim SFC title after epic battle with St Mary's Kiltoghert - GALLERY

Mohill celebrations were long and loud in Avant Money Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada as the four in a row Connacht Gold Leitrim SFC finalists got their hands back on the Fenagh Cup after an epic 2-10 to 0-14 victory over defending champions St Mary's Kiltoghert on Sunday. Observer photographer Willie Donnellan was a busy man with the camera chronicling the celebrations ..... see who you can spot here!

“They had their chances, we had our chances and at the end of the day, a County Final goes down to luck. You could say we were unlucky last year, we crumbled towards the end but we stuck to the plan this year, stuck to plan and it paid off.”

Jordan also paid tribute to man of the match Ronan Kennedy for his match winning contribution to Mohill's victory last Sunday: “An absolute leader, cometh the hour, cometh the man - Ronan always produces on the big day, he is a living legend.”
