Man hole lid being "lifted" by rains
"This is an absolutely urgent situation," said Cllr Thomas Mulligan who requested that a manhole situated at Station Road / Coolabaun, Mohill, which during heavy rain, is continually flooding the road and a nearby field, is examined for a blockage or defects."
At the latest meeting of Carrick-on-Shannon municipal district, Cllr Mulligan said: "The amount of water that comes down there during heavy rains lifts the round manhole lid; it's a danger on the road because someone could hit the big heavy cast iron lid; it's also going into a man's field and drowning him out of it."
Chairperson Cllr Enda Stenson supported the motion.
District engineer, Darragh O'Boyle said he will advise Irish Water that "their manhole is becoming an issue to the road users."
