Cllr Gerry Dolan
"It's a very much used hall," said Cllr Gerry Dolan when he called on Ballinamore Municipal District to have a public light erected outside Ballinaglera Hall.
However, he was advised that the District Office cannot provide new lighting to rural areas as it would be contrary to good climate action governance.
"We have no objection to the community centre erecting a light and column within their property, but we do not have any budget to include it in our public lighting infrastructure," the official response said.
Cllr Dolan continued: "It's very dark outside and I think it would be great and I propose that the council erect at least one light outside the hall."
He asked that if the community were to erect lighting, would they receive funding from the council. District engineer Darragh O'Boyle said he could meet them out there and was sure they could come to some agreement.
