Perlee perform an intimate ‘North, South, East, West’ tour at Glens Centre

Perlee is set to perform an intimate 'North, South, East, West' tour of Ireland at Glens Centre on December 08 at 8pm.

Perlee recently released their debut album to critical acclaim and played two sold-out shows in their home town of Navan last April.

Following on from their sold-out Berlin Launch gig at the end of September, they are now looking forward to playing four shows with friends they made whilst living in Berlin.

Perlee's music ebbs and flows between dream pop and slowcore in the vein of the Cocteau Twins, Low and Yo La Tengo. They have released 2 E.P.s and an L.P. to excellent critical reception and radio play across Germany, Ireland, the U.S. and more.

The band recently played two sold-out shows in Ireland and now looks forward to presenting the songs from their new album 'Speaking From Other Rooms' in Germany.

The couple, who originally met through the DIY scene in their hometown of Navan, formed Perlee whilst living in a small house in the farmer's quarters of a large stately home, surrounded by huge trees, peacocks and farm dogs. The house was so remote that they could spend their evenings drinking red wine and playing loud music late into the night.

In 2018, the pair moved to Berlin and quickly found a small flat in an old industrial part of Berlin called Moabit. Through friends, they had the good fortune of finding a rehearsal space on the grounds of an old hospital around the corner and began developing the sound they had first struck upon while living in the remote Irish countryside.

In the early days, the couple enjoyed the city's many spaces to showcase their music. They played several gigs every week in smoky bars, house concerts and clubs until the pandemic hit.

Unable to tour, they began to focus fully on the production of their album. The songs were mainly written in their Berlin studio, while drummer Matt Ingram (Laura Marling, Keaton Henson), who also mixed the album, recorded his parts in London.

This collaboration brought a sense of spaciousness to the project and meant that the songs could be reflected upon and refined as the process gradually progressed.

Released on April 21 2023, Speaking From Other Rooms is a celebration of an interior life and the desire to connect and love, be that unconditional, familial or romantic, with a healthy dose of dystopia thrown in for good measure.

Tickets cost €15 for adults and €12 for students and are available at https://glenscentre.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/873650203.
