Rest In Peace

Seamus (Jimmy) Nealon, Drumcong, Co Leitrim
The death has occurred of Seamus (Jimmy) Nealon, Drumadykey, Drumcong, Co Leitrim on Monday, 12th February. Predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Marie and a large number of Aunts and Uncles. Sadly missed by his sister Marian (London) and brothers Kevin (Drumshanbo), Declan (Australia), his nieces Sinéad, Shannon, Erin and Ciara and his nephews Liam and Conor. Funeral Mass on Thursday, 15th February, at 11 o'clock followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Phila (Philomena) O'Connor, Galway / Kilmore, Co Roscommon
Phila (Philomena) O'Connor, (née Caslin), Oaklands, Salthill, Galway, recently Brampton Nursing Home, Oranmore, Co Galway and formerly of Foxwood, Kilmore, Co. Roscommon. ​​​​​Phila slipped away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, 11 February in the care of the Brampton and her family. Devoted to and dearly loved mother of Gerry, Val and Mary. Predeceased by her much-loved husband Anthony and by her parents Thomas and Kate and by her ten siblings, Jim, Donal and Jack, Agnes, Sr. Mai, Missie, Kathleen, Birdie, Theresa and Ann and most recently by her sister-in-law Mai. Deeply mourned by her sons and daughter, daughter-in-law Rose and the proudest granny of Morgan, Stephen and Michael. Sadly missed also by her brother-in-law Phonsie, many nephews and nieces, neighbours, and friends. Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Phila on Thursday, 15 February, at 11 a.m. in Church of Christ the King, Salthill and following Mass she will be laid to rest with Anthony in Rahoon Cemetery.

PJ Shanley, Croghan, Co Roscommon
The death has occurred of PJ Shanley, Faus, Croghan, Boyle, Co Roscommon, peacefully in his 95th year, in the loving care of the wonderful staff at Drumderrig House Nursing Home, Boyle on Wednesday, 14th February. Pre-deceased by his parents Bernard and Kate, his brothers Noel and Fr Gerry, sisters Bridie (McGrath), Clare (Reynolds), Pauline, Fidelma (Boylan) and his niece Anne. PJ will be sadly missed by his Sisters Ethna Boyd, Carrick-on-Shannon, Sr. Monica (Mona), Loreto Convent, Balbriggan, his brother Fr Matt (USA), brother-in-law John Boylan, his many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Reposing at Mahon's Funeral home, Boyle (F52 ND23), on Friday 16th of February from 4pm to 6pm with removal to St. Michael's Church, Croghan ​​​(F52 N510) at 6.30pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, 17th of February at 12 noon with burial immediately afterwards to Eastersnow Cemetery.

Michael Taylor, Knockvicar, Co Roscommon
The death has occurred of Michael Taylor, Errironagh, Knockvicar, Boyle, Co. Roscommon and formerly Kildare, on February 3rd 2024, peacefully, at Torrevieja Hospital, Alicante, Spain, surrounded by his devoted wife and family. Pre-deceased by his brothers Paddy and Seán. Michael will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Agnes (née Guckian), his son Brian (London) daughter Caroline Rowan (Drumboylan), son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, sisters Emily and Marie (Kildare), Joan, Teresa and Carmel (London), nephews, nieces, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. Reposing at Shivnan’s Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon F52 WT26 on Friday evening (February 16th) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, Drumboylan, at 12 noon on Saturday (February 17th). Interment afterwards in Kiltoghert Cemetery. 

John James Duignan, Kenagh, Co Longford / Arigna, Co Roscommon
John James Duignan, 13 Woodland Path, Kenagh, Co Longford, formerly Arigna, Co Roscommon and North Wales, peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, 14th February. Predeceased by his sister Maureen and brothers Eugene and Paschal. Sadly missed by his wife Brenda, his son Rob, daughter-in-law Laura, brothers and sisters Pauline (Foighe), Annie-Joe (Sligo), Frances (Boyle), Dominic and Gerard (Arigna), Gussy (Sligo) and Brendan (Wales). His grandchildren Charlotte, Callum, Dylan, Morgan and Shannon. Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.  Reposing at his residence (N39 HOCO) this Thursday afternoon from 3 o'clock. Funeral Mass on Friday at 11 o'clock in St Dominic's Church, Kenagh followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium Cavan.

Sr. Sacred Heart Beirne, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath / Kilmore, Co Roscommon
Sr. Sacred Heart (Marguerite) Beirne, Sisters of Mercy, Kilbeggan and Tullamore and formerly Kilmore, Co. Roscommon. Died 12th February, peacefully at Esker Rí Nursing Home, Clara. Deeply regretted by the Sisters of Mercy Kilbeggan, Tullamore and the Northern Province, her nieces Mary Curran and Margaret Foster, her nephews James and Andrew Curran, her grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, extended family and her many kind friends and neighbours. Reposing at Nannery's River View Chapel of Rest, Kilbeggan (N91HR88) on Thursday, 15th February, from 4.30pm till 6.30pm with removal to St. James's Church, Kilbeggan arriving at 7.00pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, 16th February, at 11.00am. Burial after Mass in the Convent Cemetery, Harbour Road, Kilbeggan.

Fr. John Patrick McKeon, Essex, UK / Boyle, Co Roscommon
The death has occurred of Rev. Fr. John Patrick McKeon, Dagenham, Essex, and formerly Deerpark, Boyle, Co. Roscommon, peacefully after a brief illness in the comfort of Park View Care Home, Dagenham on Wednesday 17th January. In the 62nd year of his ministry to the priesthood. Predeceased by his parents John and Mary Anne, brothers Pat and Owen (Croydon), his brothers-in-law Joe Beirne and Johnny Mahony (Croydon), his grandnephew Niall Beirne and grandniece Niamh Flannagan. Deeply mourned and sadly missed by his heart broken brothers and sisters, brothers Frank (Dublin), Micheál and Tom (Boyle), sisters Kathleen Mahony (Croydon), Maureen Carrol (Tuam), and Bridie Beirne (Boyle). Brother-in-law Bill Carrol (Tuam), sisters-in-law Kathleen (Croydon), Mary (Dublin) and Myra and Mary (Boyle), nieces, nephews and extended family. Rev. Fr. Stephen Myre and his brother priests, and parishioners of the previous four parishes he served in England and a large circle of friends. Fr. John will lie in repose at the home of Tom and Mary McKeon, Deerpark, Boyle (Eircode F52 E825) on Friday 16th of February from 5pm to 7pm. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday 17th at 11am in St. Joseph's Parish Church, Boyle followed by burial in Assylinn (old) Cemetery. 

Mary (May) Mullen, Arva, Co Cavan
Mary (May) Mullen (née McBrien), late of Longford Street, Arva, Co Cavan on Tuesday, 13th February, peacefully in Glenashling Nursing Home. Beloved sister to Gress and Una. Sadly missed by her sisters, cousin Chrissie (McBrien), nieces Fiona, Sonya, Susan and Maria, nephew Simon, extended family, neighbours and friends. Funeral arriving to Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea, Co. Cavan, H12 HN53 on Friday for 12pm Requiem Mass with cremation thereafter to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, H12 RF78 for service at 1.30pm.
