Wet and cold weather with frost possible are expected in today's weather forecast

Wednesday, January 21, will be wet to start, with further outbreaks today, heavy at times. Rain will clear eastwards during the morning, with sunny spells and scattered showers following.

Fresh to strong southwesterly winds will veer westerly as the rain clears and will gradually ease later in the day. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees, turning cooler during the afternoon.

TONIGHT: Some clear spells for a time and a scattering of showers before a band of heavy and possibly thundery rain spreads from the west, clearing again overnight.

It turns colder once the rain clears, with clear spells and showers following, some heavy hail, and a chance of thunder. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees, with a touch of frost possible later in sheltered parts.
