North West STEM Fest is expanding in 2024

After the success of last Year’s event in Ballinamore, North West STEM Fest is expanding to 4 weeks this summer.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, and at North West STEM Fest, it is about creative approaches to each topic that make it much more engaging than ever experienced in school.

It is suitable for any teenager from those entering 1st Year right up to TY and caters for any ability.

This summer, there are four camps available: Dromahair at Riverbank Restaurant from 15th—19th July 2024; Carrigallen at Breadagh Oldschool from 22nd - 26th July 2024; Ballinamore 1 at Island Theatre from 22nd - 26th July 2024; and Ballinamore 2 at Island Theatre from 29th July -2nd August 2024.

Each day, the North West STEM Fest runs from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. It advises to bring a packed lunch, water, pen and phone.

Each morning starts with a warm-up creative task to wake everybody up. Then, moving into a team-based STEM activity, which is self-directed. We have half an hour for lunch before another team-based activity.

All tasks are designed to be competitive and fun, including Juggling Quadratic equations, The Duckie Bungee, The Leaning Tower of Chairs, Dancing Functions, Rocket Building, Knex and Lego, Builder Architect, The Dynamic Display, The Egg Drop Challenge, and much more.

On one of the days, we will also do a Creative Hike/ Walk and, weather-dependent, some star-gazing at night.

A standard ticket costs €129, although there are early bird tickets for €119. There are a limited number, however, so book early. Concessions will be made for families.

All information is on the Eventbrite page or check out @northweststemfest and @mrmathweeney on Instagram. If you have any questions or to find out more, contact Seán on 089 9596278.
