Stephen King, Fianna Fail, Carrick-on-Shannon LEA
First time Fianna Fail candidate in the Carrick-on-Shannon LEA, Stephen King has claimed it is now time to put past promises and pledges into action before we move forward with a new council after this week's local election.
Stephen claimed that as a first time candidate that issues that were on the table last time out are still cropping up to him leaving the public disheartened.
Stephen said: “No matter who is elected it is vital that we get the basics done in our communities and that we give people the fundamental services they deserve.
“We still have people looking for broadband so they can work from home, road improvements, provision of amenities locally for example playgrounds and community hubs, planning permission to people on their own land, childcare facilities, affordable rental accommodation for young working people, all which are all basic and central to any community.”
Stephen went on to say: “We all look to big projects and investment for the future but we really need to look at what is needed to catch up on the progress already achieved and bring us to a point that future progress can run on smoothly.”
In the hope of being elected Stephen said: “A lot of our future plans may depend on the infrastructure of the past and I believe some of this infrastructure may be outdated and needs the relevant upgrading and I would work with the council and communities to bring this to fruition.”
Come out and vote
Stephen has called on all the people to come out and use their vote. He said, “We are at a very important juncture in our development locally and I hope we get a large turn out in the local and European elections to direct our future.”
Stephen thanked all of the people he had met on the doorstep or in the community and the time that they had given him to talk about local issues and this talk led to some very interesting and productive outcomes.
“We have a very vibrant county. We can be very proud of our communities and if elected I will work to further enhance and develop our county and locality to its fullest potential,” he said.
