Welcome to the Leitrim Observer's Election 2024 coverage this morning LIVE from the Landmark Hotel in Carrick-on-Shannon.
The boxes are being opened and an army of tally people are in situ to record the first preference votes of candidates in both the Local and European elections.
The tally people from different political parties, and none, were given advice before the boxes were opened in how to conduct the tally.
They were advised that the contest ended yesterday and they must work together today to conduct an accurate tally of the votes.
Deputy Returning Officer, Geraldine Cornyn, told the tally people "We are looking for accuracy, not speed."
