All-Ireland glory for Leitrim at Tullamore Show

Leitrim enjoyed All-Ireland success at Ireland’s premier one-day agricultural event, the Tullamore Show on Sunday.

Dromahair's Michael McGoldrick was crowned An Bord Bia All Ireland potato champion at the nation event, which was held at the Butterfield Estate, Blueball in Co Offaly.

Tullamore Agricultural Show is Ireland's largest one day show. Commenting after his win in Tullamore Michael said “What a great week for the county. Our Leitrim Ladies team won the All Ireland football final last Sunday and today I won the Potato All Ireland in Tullamore”.

Finalists for the Bord Bia all Ireland Potato Championships are selected through agricultural shows during the summer, with the final being held in Tullamore.

This is the 8th All-Ireland win in the competition for the McGoldrick family.

Michael along with his late parents has competed in the final for over 31yrs.

Their proud history in the competition saw wins coming in 1993, 1998, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2014, 2018 and now 2024.

“I am very proud and it is always a great honor to represent Leitrim at national level and keep the Leitrim flag flying,” Michael said.

Not only did Leitrim take 1st prize, but also this year 2nd place went to the county for Patrick Hiney from Dromahair.

This is his second year in a row for him to finish runner-up.
