Leitrim writer to release sequel memoir on September 12

Seamus O'Rourke

Seamus O’Rourke, an award-winning writer, actor and director from County Leitrim will be releasing a sequel to his first memoir on September 12.

‘Leaning on Gates,’ comes after O’Rourke’s widely popular autobiography titled ‘Standing in Gaps.’

O’Rourke’s writing is hugely influenced by his Leitrim upbringing, with Standing in Gaps chronicling his experiences growing up in the county.

Leaning on Gates, documents his travels abroad before inevitably returning back home to Leitrim.

His new book is sure to provide laughter and chaos for the reader.

Seamus O’Rourke will be in the Corn Mill Theatre, Carrigallen for the official launch of Leaning on Gates on September 15 at 5pm.

“A series of excerpts from the memoir will be read aloud by very special guests as the evening drags on into near bedtime.

“There will also be a chance to purchase the book or to pretend that a family member got one earlier,” O’Rourke humorously wrote.

Seamus O’Rourke is also set to tour with his production 'Indigestion,' beginning at The Glens Centre in Manorhamilton on September 17 before heading to 21 other venues around the country.

There are two additional shows in Leitrim - The Island Theatre in Ballinamore will welcome the writer on September 21, followed by a show in Tullaghan Community Centre on October 6.
