Leitrim 'Swap Shop' fundraising event postponed

The event, which was due to be held in St Joseph's Hall, has now been postponed until September 28.

Leitrim event cancelled

A swap shop in aid of a very worth cause planned to be held this weekend in Leitrim village has been cancelled, due to unforeseen circumstances.

The event, which was due to be held in St Joseph's Hall, has now been postponed until September 28.

Patrick Hayden is a 16-year-old young man with autism, who spent 2 years out of school trying to find the right place that could support his complex needs. He was very grateful to find a wonderful opportunity for education at Mohill Community College, where he is now thriving.

Patrick loves school, especially woodwork and wants to be a part of giving the gift of education to other children facing disadvantage.

With this in mind, he and his dad, Mick, will be heading to South Africa in November as part of the annual ‘Mellon Educate Building Blitz’, to build a school for disadvantaged children in Cape Town.

So far, they have raised €6,000 and need to raise another €3,500 for their place in the trip. If you are in a position to support this wonderful young man, please come along to St. Joseph’s Centre (N41 PY51) in Leitrim Village on Saturday, September 28th instead to their ‘Saturday Swap Shop’, between 11am and 3pm.

Entry is free, you simply ‘swap’ your €10 for any of the fabulous items donated to their fundraiser. You don’t need to bring items to swap, just plenty of tenners!
