Overnight restrictions for water will be in place in several areas of Leitrim on Monday night, due to low reservoir levels after Storm Darragh.

Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in south Leitrim that overnight restrictions will be required tonight (Monday) to allow reservoir levels to recover after the impact of Storm Darragh.

"As reservoirs remain at critically low levels, it will be necessary to implement water conservation measures overnight to allow local reservoirs to recover and maintain daytime supply," a spokesperson said.

Nighttime restrictions will be required tonight for the following areas:

Carrick-on-Shannon area: Hartley, Attirory

Drumshanbo/Leitrim Village: Drumshanbo town, Leitrim village, Ballinaboy, Mullaghboy/Drumbrand, Lisdrumrea/Lisdrumfarna

Mohill/Carrigallen: Ohill, Newtowngore, Carrigallen

Dromod/Drumsna: Dromod, Dromod south, Rooskey

Ballinamore: all mains supply from the town.

Alternative water supplies are available at the following locations:

Drumshanbo: Food Hub

Ballinamore: Garda Station

Aughawillan: National School

Corrawallen: Drumlea National School

Drumcong: National School

Killyvehy: McNamee’s Garage

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Homes and businesses are being asked to be mindful of their water usage and to conserve water to allow supply to catch up with demand. Customers can find useful water saving tips on our website www.water.ie/conserve.

Following return of supply, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to fully be restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit the Water Supply Updates section of water.ie
