Nearly 1,200 customers in Leitrim remain without power today as the cleanup of Storm Darragh continues

Over 1000 customers in Leitrim still without power after Storm Darragh

1,159 homes and businesses in Leitrim remain without power five days after storm Darragh ravaged the country.

The figures from the ESB, reported by Shannonside, show that south Leitrim is still the most affected area, within the county. Ballinamore is the most affected with over 200 customers without power.

Like Storm Ophelie in 2017, Storm Darragh which hit Ireland on Friday night caused extensive damage to electrical infrastructure leaving 400,000 customers without power across the country. 

ESB crews are still working to restore power to the affected areas but predict some customers in Leitrim may not regain power until tomorrow night.

Here is a breakdown of power outages in Leitrim: Ballinamore: 236; Mohill: 169; Carrigallen: 142; Rooskey: 119; Aughnasheelin: 95; Drumshanbo: 82; Leitrim village: 62; Drumahair: 49; Carrick-on-Shannon: 34; Aughavas: 21; Cloone: 15; Rossinver: 13; Drumsna: 10.
