Minister breaks ground in Drumshanbo

Leitrim is set to get a new sports facility as a €1.2M water sports facility is on track to open in Drumshanbo this Autumn.

Catherine Martin, outgoing Tourism Minister turned the sod on the development at Acres Lake along the Lough Allen Blueway, last September.

The development of the new facility, put together by Fáilte Ireland and Leitrim County Council, aims to extend the outdoor tourism season in the area by providing year-round hot showers, changing rooms, toilets, secure storage, and wash-down areas for water sport enthusiasts, Shannonside reported.

This is the first of 22 such facilities to be built nationwide to enhance the visitor experience and serve as a central hub for outdoor activities.
